Description

Our day will start early in the morning with a pick up from your accommodation.

We will leave the city of Marrakech behind, driving South-East to reach the High Atlas mountains and cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass, located at a stunning elevation of 2.260 metres (7.410 ft.) above the sea level.

We will be stopping many times en route to enjoy the breathtaking views from the mountains.

As we drive down the High Atlas, located on the foothills of the mountains, you will discover the site of Ait-Ben-Haddou, the most famous ksar (fortified village) in the Ounila Valley. This earthen settlement is a great example of traditional pre-Saharan habitat and it still feels as special as when it was built in the 11th century and because of its unique beauty and architectural marvel, the place became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

Historical, biographical and Biblical movies have used Ait-Ben-Haddou as a scenic background, including Jesus of Nazareth, Babel, Gladiator and more recently this location was used to represent the slave-trading city of Yunkai in the Game of Thrones.

After lunch, our trip will continue to Ouarzazate, whose vast and arid surroundings mark the beginning of Sahara desert. This small town is now home to two film studios: CLA Studios Morocco and Atlas Corporation Studios, one of the largest in the world and you will have some free time to enjoy a visit of these amazing movie settings.

Our last stop will be at the the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco which in the past was a strategic location for the Saharan Caravan Route to West Africa. We will then drive back to Marrakech for an early evening arrival.
